Sam Weber’s work is a varied mix of strongly contrasting black and white compositions and incredibly soft and detailed figure/portrait work. His work foreshadows dramatic events within a powerful narrative that is lusciously executed.

Always working with a restrictive palette, Sam’s true exploration lies in the content he creates and the unusual effects he continually explores. Below a pinkish-brown morphing stain shapes a partial background to a gathering of large and loose, brushy, black marks. These marks create a monstrous form whose arms seem to face us as it’s feet continue in the opposing direction, carrying away a young woman in an uncanny embrace.

These works constantly push between the worlds of painting and drawing, all the while, creating rich and enigmatic subject matter.
